BD FACSAria
About the FACSAria
The BD FACSAria high-speed sorter is equipped with 488nm, 633nm, and 405nm lasers. It can simultaneously detect 9 colors and perform 2, 3, or 4 way sorting. The instrument incorporates a fixed-alignment cuvette flow cell. This new flow cell provides superior fluorescence sensitivity. The Aria also has digital acquisition rates of up to 70,000 events/second and is capable of sorting into 6, 24, 48, 96 or 384 mutliwell pates or slides. There is a temperature control option for cooling or heating the sample and sort collection, as well as sample agitation for continuous sorting.
Sample Preparation
Samples to be run on the FACSAria should be in Falcon #2052 polypropylene or #2054 polystyrene tubes, eppendorf tubes or 15mL conical tubes.
Collection Tube Preparation
All collection tubes/devices should be half full with media. This media may contain or be BSA or FCS. We recommend that a general antibiotic also be added to the collection media to help prevent contamination.
For 1-way and 2-way sorting (simultaneous collectio nof 1 or 2 populations) we can collect into:
- 5mL 12x75 tubes (e.g. Falcn #2063, #2052, #2054)
- 15mL conical tubes
- eppendorf tubes
For 4-way sorting (simultaneous collection of 2, 3, or 4 populations) we can collect into:
- 5mL 12x75 tubes (e.g. Falcon #2063, #2052, #2054)
- BioRad titer tubes: 223-9390, 223-9391, 223-9395 (contact BioRad for more information). These are available sterile and non-sterile, bulk or in racks, and with or without plugs
